Alfredo Herrera Obituary

Alfredo N. Herrera 1931 - 2010 IN LOVING MEMORY Alfredo N. Herrera, born September 10, 1931 in Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully in his Bakersfield home on April 3, 2010. Alfred, ("Al", "Nico", and of course, "Tata", as he was known by all who loved him,) was a man of great character and quiet strength, whose gentle nature and loving kindness earned the respect of all who knew him. Alfred is survived by his beautiful sweetheart of 60 years, Delia "Honey" Herrera, and their seven children: daughter, Sandra Meza; daughter, Bobbie Falcon and husband Mike; son, Alfred Herrera Jr. and wife Jodie; son, Julian Herrera; daughter, Yolanda Gonzalez and husband Joe; daughter, Catalina Straface; and son, Donald Herrera. Also missing him greatly are his 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-grandchild. After his noble service to the Army during the Korean War, Alfred lived much of his life on the road, for 50 years, as a truck driver. When he wasn't working, he was camping, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors with his wife and children, and of course, spending many of his afternoons watching his beloved L.A. Angels. You will be greatly missed, and always loved, Tata. A viewing will be held Thursday, April 8th, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Basham Funeral Care, 3312 Niles St., Bakersfield, and a funeral service to follow Friday, April 9th, 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 124 Columbus St., Bakersfield. www.bakersfield.com/obits

A Father's Love is Forever: As children we can't comprehend or do we fully realize the meaning of our Father's love until it is too late, then we realize that our Father had a away about his kindness and understanding with all his children, who he loved very much. And the many sacrifices he made very quietly in his own way. Yes we will miss our Father immensely and we know he will be watching over us, our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and he will be waiting for us when God calls us to his Pearly Gates when we enter Heaven. "Dad we love you so so so much and you will be missed very much by all" "DAD YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MY HERO" Bobbie Jean
