ALICE ALICIA EMILY GONZALES

July 8, 1925 - January 20, 2023

Alice Gonzales was born July 8, 1925 and passed away peacefully on January 20, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Alice married the love of her life Manuel Gonzales in Bakersfield, California on February 11, 1956. They were married for 55 years before her beloved husband passed in 2011.

She is survived by her four children: Marylou Salas (Greg), Yolanda Therese Tarp (Sean), Diane Saldana, (Ricardo) and Mark Gonzales. She has one surviving brother Lionel (Bernice). Alice had six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her family always came first and she was our Queen.

Alice believed in making the most of each day and always had something planned. You could catch up with her at the Mount Vernon Senior Center dancing or exercising, Rosary Group at St. Francis, attending Guadalupana Meetings at Guadalupe Church, or heading to the Casino with her family. Before retirement, Alice taught religious education classes at St. Joseph's Church and was employed by Bakersfield City School District for over 20 years. At the age of 59, she went back to school to receive her Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts, just to prove she could do it.

Alice was preceded in death by her father Corrado, mother Emma, step-mother Julia, sister Mary Ellen, brother Hector, and husband Manuel. We will miss her but know that she is reunited with her Manny.

Services for Alice Gonzales will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 at St. Francis Church, 900 H Street in Bakersfield, California. The rosary and viewing will begin at 9:30am followed by the funeral mass at 10am. The burial will be at Greenlawn Mortuary, 3700 River Blvd, Bakersfield, California 93305.
