Barbara Meuleman Obituary

BARBARA ANN GIRGA-MEULEMAN

October 11, 1937 January 28, 2023

Colorado Springs Barbara Ann Meuleman, 85, who spent most of her life in Bakersfield, California passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado on January 28, 2023. She was surrounded with love, one day shy of the passing anniversary for her husband, Andries.

Preceding her in death are her father, C. Virgil Fisher; mother, Marjorie Diehl; twin brother Bernie (Bo) Fisher; brother, Bob Fisher; and husband Andries Meuleman.

She leaves behind brother William (Sonny) Fisher; children Sue Fernandez and Robert Girga; grandchildren, Brandi, Tania, Faith, Kristin, Jessica and Nick; as well as great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ava and Sophia. She was blessed to have had a loving relationship with her step-children in the Netherlands.

Barbara moved to California, from Ohio, in 1969 where she raised her kids and continued her education. She majored in English and religious studies, earning her master's degree, ultimately being self-employed as a psychotherapist, until she retired to The Netherlands in 1997, marrying Andries, the love of her life. The couple later moved back to Bakersfield, enjoying retirement together.

Barbara will always hold a place in our hearts. She was a supportive mother who was always there when we needed her. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Bakersfield, writing them and sending cards until her final days.
