BRUCE A DAVIS

1921 - 2021

Bruce A Davis was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico on May 16, 1921, to parents Myrtle and Bruce B Davis. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 75 years, Lee, and daughters Lauren and Denise, Bruce is survived by five children, thirteen grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren.

Bruce married Lee in 1946, and they spent their early married years in Japan and Germany. Bruce proudly served in the US Army from 1939 to 1962 (1st and 8th Cavalry Divisions), was in active service in both WWII and Korea, retiring as Major in 1962. Bruce worked for the US Treasury from 1962 to 1982, retiring in Bakersfield.

Following retirement, Bruce spent many years as a volunteer of the Associated Veterans Honor Guard. He was active in local organizations such as the American Legion Post 26; VFW, Post 97; MOPH, Post 604; Bakersfield Chapter MOAA; and a life member of NAUS. Bruce and Lee were members of Christ Church of the Valley since 1976.

Services are Thursday, November 18, 2021: Celebration of Life at 11AM at Christ Church of the Valley, Bakersfield; inurnment and Military Honors beginning at 2PM at the Bakersfield National Cemetery (arrival at 1:30PM). As seating at the cemetery is limited, you may bring your own chair.
