Buddy Knight Obituary

Buddy Orville Knight "O.B. Knight" 1933 - 2011 Buddy Orville Knight was born on May 24, 1933 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Lena and Jess Knight, but most of you knew him as O.B. Knight. He had two sisters and 2 brothers. He married the love of his life Juanita Robinett on April 12, 1954. They just celebrated their 57th anniversary before he was diagnosed with liver cancer. He was a graduate of Needles High School where he just celebrated his 60th class reunion on March 18, 2011. He worked for the railroad for over 15 years, and then he went on to do what he loved most, Construction. He was a general contractor for over 40 years many of those years were spent working for Memorial Hospital and Mercy. He spent many years as a commercial fisherman up in Trinidad. He fished for Salmon. He helped with the building of Pyle's Boy Camp. He served in the Korean War and was honorable discharged. He leaves behind 3 children, Dennis Knight and wife Susan, Michael Knight and Cindi Smith and husband John; 9 grandchildren, Kimberly, Patrick, Gabe, Victoria, Jacquelyn, Dustin, Christopher, Alexander and Joyln; 5 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Alexis, Amy, Abby and Tristan and many more family members and friends that will truly miss him. He and mom spent over 16 years up in their cabin in the Greenhorn Mountains and he truly loved it up there. He also spent his time at Laughlin where he promised to teach us all how to gamble. I know he is in heaven and not alone because he never knew a stranger, and he always volunteered his wealth of knowledge. He was an avid card player and he didn't just let you win because of your age, you had to earn your win. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 26th, from 1:00 to 5:00pm at Mission Family Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 27th, at Valley Baptist Church at 9:30am and he will be buried upon his request at the National Veterans Cemetery at 12:30pm. www.bakersfield.com/obits
