Charles Goubert Obituary

CHARLES (CHUCK) GOUBERT

February 8, 1942 - August 2, 2025

Chuck passed into eternal glory on August 2, 2025.

He was born and raised in Santa Ana, CA. Chuck attended Mater Dei High School and continued his education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Pomona and graduated with a BA in Agriculture in 1962.

As a teenager Chuck worked on his uncle's farm in Rio Vista, CA and so began his dream of owning his own farm someday.

In 1963 Chuck moved to Bakersfield where he was employed as an agriculture loan officer for United California Bank. Chuck also worked in sales management at various produce companies.

In 1972 Chuck was able to purchase 40 acres in Arvin, CA and with an additional 40 acres of leased land he began his own farming operations "Rancho Vista Montana." He grew cannery tomatoes and other vegetables and raised pigs for 4H students. His dream of becoming a farmer became a reality! In 1973 Chuck met his forever love, Dianna, and they were married in 1975.

In 1979 the Goubert's relocated to Quincy, CA in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California.

Chuck often began each new venture with his trademark comment "how hard could it be?" So, following the purchase of their 1893 Victorian home in Quincy, Chuck decided it would make the perfect bed and breakfast after all "how hard could it be?" After the restoration was complete, they opened the first bed and breakfast in Quincy, CA The Feather Bed. They owned and operated The Feather Bed from 1984 to 1992 until they move to Gold Beach, OR and begin a market garden venture.

In the years that followed they sold their property in Oregon, purchased a motor home and for the next several years traveled as full-time RV'ers. They tried their hand as work campers at the Ponderosa Ranch in Lake Tahoe and at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. In 2001 they returned to Bakersfield to care for aging parents and began attending Riverlakes Community Church.

Some of Chuck's favorite things were camping, the beach, traveling, family and Taco Tuesday with his buddies and Dewar's ice cream.

Chuck was a man of faith, a servant of God, devoted to his Lord, his family and friends. Chuck could always be counted on. He led a small group bible study, worked in children's ministry, handed out food for Senior Sack, served on the board of the Hope Center and made several mission trips. He never talked about it he just did it.

He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his big smile and his easygoing manner. He will be missed by all. To know Chuck was to love Chuck.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Pierre and Georgette and his beloved sister Elizabeth O'Brien.

He is survived by his wife Dianna of almost 50 years, his brother Jim (Patrice), brother-in-law Steve O'Brien, his children Charles Goubert Jr, Suzanne Cummings (Garth), Lisa Toth (Rich), Mick Cameron (Fabienne), Andy Cameron (Cindy), 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A special thanks to Yolanda and Gloria for their tender compassionate care and Hoffmann Hospice, especially, Michael for going the extra mile and showing us God's love.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverlakes Community Church with a luncheon reception to follow.
