CLAIRE LARUE ANDERSON ROSS

December 6, 1926 - April 13, 2022

Claire LaRue Anderson Ross, born in Bakersfield, California on December 6th, 1926, left to be with the Lord at the age of 95 on April 13th, 2022. She reunited with her beloved husband and lifelong love of 65 years, Jack Neville Ross, who passed away in 2013.

Claire was also preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Ruth Anderson, and three younger brothers, Don, Robert, and Kenneth Anderson. She leaves behind two daughters, Linda Kay Defrenchi and Faye Marie Smith; one son, Jerry Allen Ross; grandchildren, Terry, Timothy, and Tony Hickey; Tina Brown, Jasmine Ross-Gutierrez, Hunter and Ben Ross, Shaun and Alannah Smith, as well as many great and great-great grandchildren.

Claire attended Wasco High School and Bakersfield Junior College, becoming a secretary for Schlumberger Oil before motherhood. Once the children came, Claire could be found at all the social and family community events imaginable. She was an outstanding hostess due to her hospitable nature and was most comfortable when serving others. This could be seen through her love of sewing gifts for her family, friends, and community, which she did devotedly for most of her life. Claire was also a very talented cook, blessing her family with delicious food for every holiday meal. Over the years, her gifts in baking won countless ribbons and awards at the Kern County Fair. You could always find Claire in the garden, often with her husband Jack, admiring the flowers and picking homegrown food for her next treat.

As a lifelong member of the Women's Club, amongst many other things, Claire had the opportunity to read a multitude of books, which was one of her favorite pastimes. Her family always knew that if she wasn't in the kitchen preparing a meal, or sewing a project for someone, they could find her resting on the couch reading a good book, especially when she was at the ocean. As someone gifted in creativity, Claire had a keen eye for beauty and loved to visit the beach with her loved ones. And that was Claire. Her heart was always for her loved ones, and she did whatever she could to take care of them. She loved her community and her friends. But she especially loved her family, and Claire served them faithfully, selflessly, and generously for all of her life.
