Clifford Alfred Rosenow passed away peacefully on August 16, 2016, after a short illness. Born December 19,1926, in South Gate, CA to Alfred and Erma Rosenow, he was the second-born of three sons. As a member of the "Greatest Generation," he served in the Army during the Korean War. He married former wife Delores Lewis in 1948, subsequently moved to Bakersfield, and became a salesman for Crocker Janitorial Supply. In 1976, he married Lily Long and they started their life-long journey together until she passed away in 2010.
An abiding prayerful faith had always been a part of his life; Cliff was kind, generous and a truly happy, giving person. When he and wife Lily moved to the mountains, they spent many joyful years raising animals, gardening, and entertaining family and friends.
At his last home, Brookdale Senior Living, Cliff made many new friends; he enjoyed playing pinochle, learned to play bridge at age 89, and was the self-proclaimed Jigsaw Puzzle King.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Erma Rosenow; brother Arthur Rosenow; wife Lily Rosenow; and daughter Susan Gibson.
Survivors include his brother Marvin (Gladys) Rosenow; children Bill Rosenow, John (Thresa) Rosenow, Lisa (Jim) Meehan, Leah Huber, Tom (Cathy) Long; grandchildren Sarah Rosenow, Tyler Rosenow, Carly Rosenow, Cody Rosenow, Jason (Joelle) Fransham, John (Stacey) Huber, Chris (Melissa) Huber, Lacy (Anthony) Kress, Lucy Long; and six great- grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held at Doughty-Calhoun-O'Meara, Monday, August 22, 2016, 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Cliff's memory to the Optimal Hospice Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
