DEANNA DARLENE TURNER

August 25, 1942 – May 10, 2024

Bakersfield – Deanna Darlene Turner was born in Oakland, CA and passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 10, 2024 at the age of 81.

Deanna and family moved from Oakland, CA to Kern County in 1944 to the Sunset Labor camp where she grew up and attended Sunset Elementary School and graduated Arvin High School in 1960. Deanna loved all her family and friends from the camp and had her first-born child Gavona in 1962, and resided there until 1968 where she met and married the love of her life Larry Turner and had their son Dirk Turner in 1969. In 1971, they moved to Pixley, CA, where she and Larry had a grocery store and resided until 1979. Deanna and family then moved back to Bakersfield where she worked in the grocery store businesses, and at the National Cement plant in Gorman, CA, along with other various jobs, and later retired from Albertsons, all while working in the family business at T&T Liberty Safes until the age of 80.

Deanna was preceded in death by her father Edwin B. Luttrell, mother Imogene "Luttrell" Avery, husband Larry Turner, daughter Gavona Mason, and brother Gene Luttrell. Deanna is survived by her son Dirk Turner and grandson Joshua Gibson, granddaughter Cheyenne Smith, husband Kyle, great-grandson Karsyn, her brother Mike Luttrell, wife Donna, brother Eddie Luttrell, wife Nora, and many numerous family members.

A special thank you to Deanna's niece Karen Tootle, after Larry's passing, Deanna and Karen became very close.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 9:00 am at Greenlawn Cemetery, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield, CA, with services to follow at 10:00 am in building A.
