Dennis Linscott Obituary

Dennis B. Linscott 1946 - 2013 Dennis Brian Linscott, 67 of Reno, Nevada, died October 16, 2013 from complications related to his time in Vietnam. Dennis graduated from Garces Memorial High School in 1964, he attended Bakersfield Junior College and received an AA degree. He attended Fresno State until he joined the US Marine Corps in March of 1967. Dennis' primary MOS in the Marine Corps was Avionics/Electrician working on the A-6 Intruder. Dennis served in Vietnam and was stationed at Chu Lai. Dennis believed Marines belonged outside the wire so he volunteered for numerous combat patrols and was assigned as a body guard for the Catholic Chaplin that interacted with the Combined Action Platoon for the area. Dennis returned to the United States and was discharged in March 1971. On the way home from North Carolina, he stopped in Reno, Nevada and decided to make it his home. Dennis joined the Reno Marines and finished his Marine Career with Company C, 4th Recon Battalion. He received an honorable discharge at the rank of E7, Gunnery Sergeant. Dennis spent years in food services, most recently as a bartender at the Peppermill in Reno, Nevada. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Catherine Linscott and an infant brother, Michael. He is survived by a brother, Timothy Linscott (Shirley), a sister, Barbara Crettol (Jim), three nephews (Jacob (Tracy) and Philip Linscott), Brian Crettol (Jaime), one niece, Suzanne Crettol, and five great nephews. Funeral arrangements are being handled by John Sparks Memorial in Sparks, Nevada. Dennis will be interned at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, at a graveside ceremony, set for 1300 on 15 November 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity. www.bakersfield.com/obits

Dennis, I have missed you since the day you left Jackpot Nevada. We worked together for years at Harrahs in Las Vegas and then you came to work for me at Cactus Pete’s. You were a good friend and the best employee ever. I remember you and I are going on some trips together and we sure had some good times. I love you pal.
