Dorothy Henry Obituary

DOROTHY MAY HENRY

October 16, 1926 – August 9, 2025

Grant Pass – Dorothy May Henry, aged 98, passed away on August 9, 2025, in Grants Pass, Oregon. Born on October 16, 1926 in Bell, California.

Dorothy was a beacon of positivity, always finding the good in everything and everyone around her. Dorothy and husband, Ray opened and operated Fosters Freeze in Oildale, and worked as secretary at King Lumber Co. She remained and raised her 3 sons in Bakersfield. Later she moved to Agua Dulce before returning back to Bakersfield.

Dorothy was deeply involved in her church, being a charter member of Calvary Bible Church where she sang in the choir, played the piano, and led youth groups.

Her personal interests included being an avid fan of the Dodgers, Lakers, NASCAR, and the Oregon Ducks. Dorothy loved to bowl and was a staunch supporter of her family's athletic activities, always present to cheer them on.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Henry, and her son, Chuck Henry of San Diego. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Bob Henry of Grants Pass, OR, and Don Henry of Agua Dulce, CA; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored and cherished.

A private service will be held at her residence along the Rogue River in Grants Pass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pregnancy Care Center of Grants Pass.

Love her so much. She is just a little farther away, for now. A special friend who loves her family and always liked to tell me how many "greats" she had. A sweet smile, always looking amazing. Will miss her until I see her again. Heaven got a good one and I know she is rejoicing being there.

So many fond memory's growing up with Dorothy (Dot), Ray, Chuck, Donny and Bobby staying with them many times while my parents were out of town. It was like I had 4 big brothers instead of just Sam.
Thoughts and prayers to all of the family.
Much Love, Charlene Peacock
