DOROTHY PAULINE HIGGINS

March 13, 1928 August 26, 2022

Dorothy Pauline Higgins, was born in Joplin, MO on March 13, 1928 and passed away on August 26, 2022. She was preceded by her parents Ivan William Kimball and Pearl May Owen, husband Chester Higgins and daughter Terry Lynn Baker.

She cared for her first husband until the end. Not wanting to live alone she remarried to Philip Knoche and after his passing married Virgil Rodacker. She liked to say that she was so lucky to have had three very good husbands.

She moved to Bakersfield, California just after the '52 earthquake and decided to become a nurse. After two years at BC she went to work at Kern General Hospital and then to Mercy Hospital. She loved being a surgical nurse and would work nowhere else. She loved her family and friends and always had a garden.

Her last few months were spent at Summit Hills in the memory care unit. Everyone there was wonderful and even though she wanted so badly to be at her home she loved everyone that helped take care of her.

She leaves behind her third husband, Virgil a son, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren .

There will be a memorial service at the Hillcrest Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2600 Kenwood Rd, Bakersfield, CA at 3:00 pm on September 24, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Pointe at Summit Hills or Hoffmann Hospice.

Deepest sympathy on the loss of your mother and grandmother. Dorothy was a patient of mine from Dr. Peyton´s office. I always enjoyed visiting with Dorothy when she would come into have her teeth cleaned. Dorothy always had a story to tell about her many adventures in her life. Dorothy was always smiling and enjoying the life she was leading at that time. Dorothy always talked about her family and grandchildren how special each and everyone was to her. I know Dorothy will be missed by all who knew and love her.
My deepest condolences
Pam Hillis R.D.H.
