George Carson Obituary

George A. Carson was born in Toledo, Ohio. Married to LeVaughn Irving in August, 1948, together they raised four intelligent, beautiful children, Debby, George, Jennifer and Julie. George will be best remembered for the gift of music he gave to our community. Moving from Ohio to California in 1952, he taught at McFarland, Burroughs, South and Highland High Schools in his 30 year career with the Kern High School District, serving as Chairman of the Fine Arts Departments at South and Highland. George will also be remembered by many as the dashing Musical Director, taking the stage in so many productions of Bakersfield's first outdoor summer theatre "Starlight of Kern." George is survived by his wife, Lee, his four children, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his sister, Ruth, and friends too numerous to count. George's life will be celebrated in a memorial service on Saturday, May 24th, 2:00 p.m., at All Saint's Anglican Church, 3200 Gosford Road, Bakersfield. All who knew and loved him are invited to attend. Donations in George's honor may be made to Hoffmann Hospice, Bakersfield, CA. George A. Carson Nov. 6, 1925 - May 20, 2008

Dear Carson Family,
I was so sad to hear of George's passing. He had a profound impact in my life, and was a huge influence on my majoring in music and becoming a teacher and a choir director. I will always remember him with joy, and will always be thankful for the sweet memories of music, fun, and excellence in everything we attempted.

To the Carson family,

Mr. Carson was the inspiration for my life as a professional musician. I have many fond memories singing in double and triple trio, madrigals, and concert choir at Highland High from 1970-1973. He was a wonderful teacher, musician and person. Music touches so many people and George Carson was certainly God's instrument. Thanks for sharing him with so many of us through the years.

Sincerely

Dear Lee and family
I was surprised to hear of George's passing. I cherish the memories I have of working with him at All Saints back in the 80s. I hope and pray that the comfort of God through his Son, Jesus Christ will be sufficient to see all of you through this difficult time.

To the Carson family:
I am deeply saddenerd to hear of Mr. Carson's passing. I was truly blessed to have him as my teacher at South and will always remember those years with such joy. He was a loving taskmaster, and he took a little girl who had no confidence and made her want to sing and gave her self-assurance that cannot be measured. I appreciate every nuance of "push" he gave me to do those things I thought I could not do.
I know that he is looking down at us and would tell us to "warm up" and work hard.

My thoughts, prayers and love are with all of you, especially you Mrs. Carson and you Deb.

Mrs. Carson,
I am very saddened by the passing of Mr. Carson. He had more influence on me than any other teacher in my 4 years at South High, both musically and personally. He introduced me to musical theatre when he hired me to play for Starlight. Playing in the pit was my favorite gig during my playing days. I will truly miss him, but he will always be in my thoughts. My wife understood the respect I had for him. She would always ask if I had heard from him and written him at Christmas. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Lee, Debbie & Family ~

My heart aches for your loss. Your dad had more impact on my life than anyone I've ever known. He truly became my "adopted" dad during a very difficult childhood.

I loved him dearly, will miss him always, and forever treasure many sweet memories.

May God's comfort be yours during this sorrowful time.
