George Whitacre Obituary

George A Whitacre, 84, passed away peacefully on the morning of December 19, 2016. He will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, his gentlemanly ways, his outgoing personality-he could start a conversation with anyone about anything at any time!

After years of farming in the McFarland area, George became involved in the bar-restaurant business relocating to the Central Coast and later to Stockton, CA.
In 2008, he moved to Bakersfield to be near his daughters and their families. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Susan, son Mark and his great-grandson Ryan. He is survived by sister Marlene Lackey, daughters Amanda, Georgia and Rebecca, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Grandpa George,
Thinking of you today. Remembering the many kind things you did for the family. You were an incredible Grandfather to Daniel who is now 43 yrs old and still holds fond memories of your golf times with him. You were so good to my Mother Susan. You are missed by this family very much. Until we meet again. Always in our hearts.

Grandpa George,
You were a kind and gentle man. You found room in your heart for the three of us and for Daniel, Josh, Jon, Jessica, and Joe Jr. Mom loved you very much. You are missed by many, loved by all who knew you.

Thinking of you Grandpa George. You would be so proud of the legacy you left. Daniel still talks about how you helped him create his love of golf. I will always remember the generous, kind, funny Step-father you were. Love you always, Lauri

Grandpa George was an incredible step father and even better grandfather to Daniel. I will remover all the happy times, and his love of his family and friends. I know he is up in heaven talking to my mom Susan and petting his beloved dog Ralph. I would not be the person I am today without having this kind, generous, funny, intelligent man in my life. I will miss you. Now go and golf away sweet, sweet man.
