Gilbert Champ Amick, Jr. December 4, 1929 - October 28, 2013 Graveside services for Gilbert Champ Amick, Jr. will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park (9101 Kern Canyon Road) on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Jr. was born on December 4, 1929 to Gilbert and Mary Amick in Shawnee, Oklahoma. In 1930, the family migrated to Arvin, California. Jr. met Goldie Phillips and they married on January 11, 1950. As the results, they had three boys, Lee, Michael, and Richard. Jr. was a well known trucker and a farm labor contractor in the Lamont and Edison areas. He also did custom farming for many years. He was a very hard working man. On October 28, 2013 Goldie lost her husband and best friend of 63 years. Jr. is preceded in death by his parents; and his great great granddaughter, Morgan Amick. He is survived by his wife, Goldie; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ralph Osborn; sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Angie, Michael and Ronda, and Richard and Nancy; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, Wyatt Leonard on the way; and 1 great great grandchild, Ridley Leonard also on the way.
