Grady Claiborne Obituary

Grady Franklin Claiborne 1939 - 2010 Grady Franklin Claiborne, age 71, passed away on November 22, 2010, at his Bakersfield home due to injuries sustained in a fire. Grady was born March 2, 1939 in Tennessee to John and Ethel Claiborne and moved to Arvin, California when he was 14 years old and has lived in Bakersfield for most of his adult life. Grady is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Claiborne; his son, John Franklin Claiborne; and his sister, Margaret Reynolds. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Dedra McKenzie; stepson, Joey McKenzie and daughter-in-law Crystal; grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, Brian, Joseph, Jacob, Kristi and Kylee; siblings and their spouses, Ruth Neese of Tennessee, Georgie and Dick Erickson of Fullerton, Frankie Richardson, Johnnie Savee, Dorothy Morland and Dixie Kemp, Atha and Carol Claiborne, Kenneth and Glenda Claiborne, Everette and Sue Claiborne, all of Bakersfield; along with many nieces and nephews. Grady was well known for his long beard, and his scooter which he liked to ride to do his errands and his very generous heart. In his younger days, Grady liked the beach and riding dune buggies with his family and friends. Grady will be remembered as a helpful person. Services will be held Friday, Dec. 3rd, 10:00 a.m., at Basham Funeral Care. Rev. Dale Claiborne will officiate. www.bakersfield.com/obits
