HENRY BRANSON DAVIS

October 25, 1951 – November 28, 2024

Bakersfield – Henry Branson Davis was born on October 25th, 1951 in Dos Palos, California and passed away on November 28th, 2024 in Bakersfield, California at the age of 73. He was the oldest son of Henry G. and Jane B. Davis.

He is survived by his two brothers: David C. Davis and his family; son Jake and his wife, Samantha, and their kids, Ramona, David, Joseph, and Rose Davis; Donald R. and Mary H. Davis and their families; son Simon Davis; son Luke and his wife Elizabeth, and their kids Garrett and Lilly Davis; and daughter Rebekah and her husband Tim, and their daughter, Andi Coonen.

Though Henry never married, he enjoyed spending holiday time and meals with his nieces and nephews.

Henry graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1969 and then went on to San Francisco State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis in photography. He was the photographer at Don and Mary's wedding.

Henry also enjoyed working on his cars and motorcycles, playing his electric guitar, and became an avid car parts salesman on eBay.

Though not a regular at attending church, Henry accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior years ago; which knowing, gives comfort to the family, friends, and neighbors that will miss him.

A memorial service will be held in the Fireside Room at Canyon Hills Assembly of God Church, 7001 Auburn Street, Bakersfield, on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to the Alcoholics Anonymous Central Office in Bakersfield. Henry credits them for saving his life and also in supporting him through 28 years of sobriety.

Rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus, brother.

I moved to Oakland in 1979 and met Henry soon after. He was known and liked by so many people- any time I saw him out and about everyone seemed to know him and want to be around him. He worked for me for a while after he recovered from his motorcycle accident and I got to see other sides of him outside the social scene. I think he was suffering from anxiety and depression that kept him from making the most of his "second chance". I knew he was still struggling after I moved back to Ohio in 1994 but he got in touch with mutual friends after he got himself straightened out and I was happy to know his life was better. He reached out a few years ago and we had many good phone conversations and texts/emails since then, lots about him taking up guitar again and refurbing an old amplifier he had. Last contact was mid November and he wasn't answering thereafter, even around Christmas. I couldn't find any info online, but my sister (also a friend of his) looked again yesterday and saw his obituary. I'm glad to have had him as a friend, happy that his life was better the last 25 years, and I'll miss his funny, thoughtful self.

As neighbors of Henry´s for over 8 years, we enjoyed all of the memories and long talk we shared with Henry, almost daily. Henry seen our 3 children grow and shared countless times with them. Every birthday, every holiday we made it a duty of ours to extend the love and always bring Henry a plate to eat, he always loved those surprises from us. He was a great friend, the perfect neighbor, just an amazing person. Our family has and will continue to miss Henry for years to come.
