Dear Sanjay, Bhavana and Amie, it was a beautiful ceremony for a beautiful young lady. I hope you found comfort in all the well wishes from those that surrounded you on Saturday and who continue to do so. I am sorry I assumed everything was 'happily-ever-after' after her returning home from the inital bone morrow transplant, I should have inquiried more about Hina later. It has been a very long and painful road for all of you, who would have done anything in the world to cure her! She will forever be in my heart! I am so privilaged to have been able to know her and to have her as one of my Girl Scouts! Peace be with you all. All my love,

Dear Sanjay Uncle, Bhavana Auntie, and Amie,
It touched me today, and I couldn't help but break down in tears. I will always remember the childhood moments I shared with Hina and with your family. She was a joyous, happy girl as a child, and I can only imagine the bright spirit she had through everything. I can and will pray my heart out for your family. Remain as strong as she was, and her soul will truly be in peace. My heart is today and will always be with you.

Dear Patel Family,
I met all of you at the Houchin dinner for platelet donors. My husband, Ken, is a platelet donor. I spoke with Mr. Patel about my brother's, David Lauer, crusade to pass Michelle's Law. I know how much it hurt when my niece, Emily, died at age 24 of ovarian cancer so I can understand the overwhelming pain you are going thru with Hina's death. I met Hina and her mother (what a loving & optomistic woman) again in the infustion room at Mercy Hospital. How fortunate Hina was to have such a loving and caring family. May you find peace in your love and memories of Hina. "Live in the sunshine...not in the rain" Emily Kay Lauer

Dear Patel family,
I have never met you, but Mr. Patel met my sister Ellen at the Houchin Blood Bank dinner to honor donors last November. My own daughter Emily died at the age of 24 seven years ago after a short by hard-fought battle woth ovarian cancer. She graduated from college 62 hours before she died, Her death inspired me to work for the passage of Michelle's Law, which guarantees that college students can take 12 months off from classes to figh their disease without losing their parents' insurance benefits. It breaks my heart to read Hina's obituary, and I pray that your hearts be consoled by those who surround you. I know the pain of Hina's death will never go away. My Emily's last publicly-spoken words were: "Live in the sunshine, not in the rain." Hina's instructions to us bring back Emily's words to me. Peace to you.
