JAMES BISOGNO Obituary

James "Big Jim" Bisogno of Bakersfield passed away peacefully and gracefully at the age of 67, on Friday, September 30, 2016 at San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield surrounded by family and friends.
Born on February 25, 1949 to Vincent and Mary Bisogno at St. Francis Hospital in Lynwood, California. Jim was the second oldest of four children and was a graduate of Warren High School in Downey, CA. Jim struck the jackpot and married the love of his life, Mary Ann, in May 1990. Jim was a salesman in the tire industry and retired in 2011, after a very successful career. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to shoot trap, fish, hunt, boat, waterski and drive his "dune buggy", especially in Glamis, CA. Jim was an active member of the Kern County Gun Club where he won numerous trap competitions and was so ever proud of his prized "championship belt buckles". One of his favorite passions was to play Craps or Blackjack whenever he was in a casino. Jim's gambling "system" never made him rich except for the stories he told of his winning fortunes! Jim had a bigger than life personality and was quite the character! He loved to tell jokes and send funny or political e-mails to family and friends. Jim was an outspoken supporter of his beloved country and truly a Patriot! Jim found joy in his family, friends and pets and was a devoted and spoiling uncle.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Mary (1977); his Grandfather James (1957); his Grandmother Carmela (1996); and his oldest sister Sandra (2014).
Jim is survived by his loving wife of twenty-six years, Mary Ann; his sister Camille of Des Moines, Iowa; his brother Vince of Whittier CA.; his Nephew Kyle of Whittier CA. and his brother in law Paul of Pacific Palisades CA and many friends in Bakersfield and the Los Angeles area.
We graciously thank Dr. Lyons and the caring staff at San Joaquin Community Hospital for their compassion and loving care of Jim.
A celebration Mass of Jim's life will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12300 Reina Road, Bakersfield CA 93312. A reception will be held at Benji's Restaurant immediately following the Mass service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim's honor to the American Heart Association.
