Jane Andreatta Obituary

We miss our dearest, sweetest, beloved mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and step-grandmother. Jane was a dedicated and caring family woman and teacher, full of love, pure goodness, generosity, enthusiasm, and the best advice. She was always there for us. She is survived by her loving daughter Nicole (Barry), her sisters Donna and Carol (Brian), her adoring nieces and nephews - Matt, Rebecca, Susan, Daniel, Katie, Mallory, Alison, Alexandria, Rob, John, Michael, Jill, and David - and their spouses and children, and her step-granddaughter, Cameron. She is preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Dwayne Murray, and by her brother-in-law, Raul Gomez. Jane was a beloved teacher of American and English literature at Taft High School, and many of her former students chose to keep in touch with her throughout their adulthood. At times in her life she was an active member of California Women for Agriculture and The Child Protection Council in Santa Maria. She was an advocate for civil rights and women's issues. Some of her passions were literature, cooking, antiquing, art, Boxer dogs, food and wine, and traveling with her good friends and family. Janie will live in our hearts and souls forever.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at First United Methodist Church at 4600 Stockdale Highway in Bakersfield.

To honor Jane's life, contributions may be made to CASA of Kern County, the California Brain Injury Association, or a charity close to your heart.

I will miss that sweet smiling face. I didn't know her that well in high school but when I started our reunions we became very well aquainted. She was fun and we definitely enjoyed going out to dinner and just visiting. She had a great smile and I am so sorry she is gone. I love going up to Bakersfield but my friends are fastly dwindling. It makes me so sad. Rest in peace my friend.

My Beautiful big cousin. Mom told me she babysat you when Aunt Rosalee and your Dad worked in their florist shop. Whenever my Mom went anywhere with you, everyone thought she was Mom's little girl!.. Such a beautiful soul. I was just hoping maybe I looked a little like my beautiful cousin "Janie". Nicole is that little girl, and that beautiful soul. Janie lives on with her beautiful daughter. Rest in peace my "big" cousin. You set a wonderful example of a life well lived.

Mrs. Andreatta was always one of my favorite teachers! She had a heart of gold, that's for sure. You don't come across teachers like her very often. She whole heartedly loved teaching and she definitely loved and cared about all of her students.

Janie was our friend for over 45yrs we had so much fun together, always laughing, crying and praying together throughout all those years. Nicole was always a part of our family and still is today. I always loved her heart and the kind way she saw everything. Her light is now burning bright with her mom and Dwight. I will always remember our friendship with so much love. Until we meet again.
