Jerri Curtis Obituary

JERRI ANN (DAVIS) CURTIS

April 17, 1951 November 27, 2023

Bakersfield Jerri Ann (Davis) Curtis was born on April 17, 1951, in McCurtain, Oklahoma, the first of 4 children born to Patricia Ann Davis and Charles Doyle Davis.

As a baby her family moved to California where she grew up on ranches in Shafter and Wasco. Jerri graduated from Tehachapi high school and got married in 1969. In her 15 years of marriage, she moved to Bakersfield and had two beautiful children. She attended Bakersfield College as a single mother to gain skills for a career. In 1985, while attending her sister's wedding she met Luke (Gene) Curtis and fell in love. She married Luke on March 16, 1986, and in 1988 had a beautiful baby girl. Jerri worked at the Kern County District Attorney's Office as the Administrative Coordinator for the Kern County Clerical Staff for 31 years before she retired at the age of 62. In 2000 she defeated breast cancer, then survived her second battle in 2014. In 2023 she began her 3rd battle, but the Lord decided to bring her home. She had been a member of the Fairfax Grange, volunteered with the Sheriff's Citizen Services Unit, was elected secretary of the Trail Blazers 4wheel drive club and an active member of the Bakersfield Woman's Club. Jerri enjoyed traveling, mostly to the beach and wherever she could go with a camper. She enjoyed knitting and sewing but most of all she loved her collection of dolls.

Jerri was kind, smart, strong and inspirational to all that knew her.

Jerri went to be with the Lord on November 27, 2023. She is survived by her husband Luke (Gene) Curtis and 3 children and their spouses: Klis Stowers (Amber), Kerri Terra (Jeff) and Amber Jackson (D.J.), 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, as well as her 3 siblings and numerous cousins.

Services will be held December 6, 2023 at 2:30pm. Reception to follow.
