Jerry Lucas was born January 16, 1937, in Tulsa Oklahoma. His family came to reside in Kern County in 1939 where they raised their family. He is the son of A.T. and Margaret Lucas and one of seven children. Jerry graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1955. Jerry worked for OMeara Rogers oilfield construction for 35 years.
He met his beautiful wife Doris of forty-eight years though mutual friends. He was a dedicated husband who cherished his wife. Through their love for each other the two of them accomplished many beautiful things. It was no surprise that they made their family the center of their world. Jerry was a wonderful father and grandfather, full of love and laughter, with a little bit of orneriness to boot. Never a dull moment when he was around, always full of mischief. We will truly miss his strength.
Jerry is survived by his wife Doris Lucas. Three sisters and one brother. Virginia Hall, Phyllis Culp and her husband Don and Gaye Potter all from Bakersfield, Steve Lucas and his wife Debbie from Las Vegas, NV. His two children Rick Lucas, Darlene Bertrand and her husband Eddie. Four grandchildren Brandon (Buff) Bertrand and his wife Sandi, Tara (Sasser Cat) Cruz and her husband Eddie, Kenneth (Biggin) Lucas, Michelle (Baby Girl) Muse and her husband Ryan. Great granddaughter Makayla (Kick-A-Poot) Bertrand. Numerous nieces and nephews.
