Jerry Stafford Obituary

Jerry Stafford was finally reunited with his wife, Helen on Sept. 5, 2014. He will be missed by his children - Carrie (Tim) Champness, Scott (Lisa) Stafford and Melissa (Michael) Dunlap; Grandchildren-Dallas (Victoria) Christison, Michael B. J. Dunlap, Scott (Katy) and Matthew Stafford, Mason (Krisstal) and Ian Champness. Great grandchildren Aiden, Gio and Kaylee Christison.
He is also survived by his sister, Marcela Upton and niece, Latha (Adam) Mann. Greeting him in heaven is his wife, Helen, Egbert Stafford and Virginia (Fred) Herrin (parents), Kelsey Christison and Mistylynn Dunlap (granddaughters), Butch Fox (nephew), Terry Fox and Richard Upton (brothers-in-law). Besides his family, Jerry loved his dogs (Angel, Cookie and Jake), visiting Cambria and Friday nights at Woolgrowers.
Jerry was a funeral director for over 40 years, having worked in Kern County at Hillcrest, Greenlawn and Delano Mortuary. He was a Sheriff's reserve officer (retired) and even worked for a time in the Kern County Jail, where the inmates called him "Barney". He was very active in his younger years with many service clubs like Kiwanis and Optimists Clubs, and Rotary. A special thank you to my brother Scott Stafford. Scott has been taking care of mom and dad for the last 10 years and it has not been easy, but has been done with love.We would also like to thank Ray Mish for his almost 50 years of friendship and his help during this difficult time.
Graveside services will be at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery on Sept. 22, 2014 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County or the Boys and Girls Club of Kern County.
