CHERYL JUNE SWEET
April 25, 1947 – August 22, 2025
Jerry Dean Sweet and Cheryl June Sweet passed away together on August 22, 2025 in Bakersfield, California after sharing 60 years of marriage. Jerry, age 85 and Cheryl, age 78 were inseparable in life and are together in passing.
Jerry was born on November 2, 1939. He served in the Air Force and held various positions at Occidental Petroleum for over 30 years. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of classic cars. He loved his family, skiing of any kind and golfing, and got to travel all over the world through his line of work. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Penner, and father, Frank Sweet, and stepfathers Cecil Syfrett and Victor Penner.
Cheryl was born April 25,1947, she had an AA from Bakersfield College and worked as a Teacher's Aide for the Bakersfield City School District for 42 years. She loved being a mom and grandmother and made all who entered her home feel like a member of the family. She was an avid reader and loved teaching kids to read. Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Fayma Little, her father Winford Slim Little and her brother Wendell Little.
They are survived by their children, Michelle Crofton and husband Victor Crofton, Jennifer Sweet-Farness and husband David Farness, grandchildren Janie Tovar and husband Christopher Tovar, and Julianne Solano. Also survived by siblings Dennis Dotson, Janice Bosio and husband Al Bosio, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

So very sad to hear this news of Cheryl and Jerry. Cheryl and I were friends since we were 5 years old. We had many laughs together. Cheryl had a very loving soul I will miss our conversations from time to time......fly high with the angels my sweet friend. RIP I love you Susan
