Joyce Aline Partin passed away peacefully on May 14, 2002 surrounded by her sons. Joyce was born to Charles Jerre Stanley and Ruth Bucher Stanley on October 15, 1935 along with her twin sister, Joy Elaine Stanley in Fort Smith, Arkansas. While attending high school in Fort Smith, Joyce played clarinet and also was a baton majorette. The Stanley residence in Fort Smith is in the Historiacal Register. After attending Fort Smith Community College and Arkansas Tech, Joyce taught elementary school and also worked with mentally challenged children. In 1957 she married David Wallace Partin whom at that time was a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. David was a Communications Engineer and commanded the 11th Signal Group at Fort Huachuca, Arizona and the 93rd Signal Brigade (Corps) in Stuttgart, Germany. Joyce sewed the flag for the 93rd Signal Brigade. As an Army wife Joyce was active in the Army Wives Clubs and volunteered with the American Red Cross and Army Community Service. David earned the rank of Colonel and retired after 35 years of service.
After Colonel Partins retirement, the family moved to Bakersfield and resided here for 13 years. David became an employee of All American Pipeline which later became Celeron Corporation, a subsidiary of Goodyear Tire and Rubber. Joyce was an antique expert and enjoyed time spent collecting antiques. She held space in the Central Antique Mall in Bakersfield.
Her husband precedes Joyce in death. She is survived by three sons, David W. Partin, Jr., his wife, Jan and their three children, Christine, Jennifer and David of The Colony, Texas, Daniel W. Partin of Phoenix, Arizona, and Donnell W. Partin of Bakersfield, California. Dr. William Jerre Stanley of Temple, Texas, Martha Schoaf of Rockledge, Floriada, and Joy Hinn of Santa Barbara, California also survive her.
A private memorial service was held at Mish Funeral Home in Bakersfield, California.
