Julie was our best friend and neighbor for many years. She had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile. Always caring about others and her beloved cats. I will miss our afternoon visits. She liked to reminisce about the farm and her Italian family. She would share her Sees candy with me and always send one home to Frank. We love you Julie. Kathy and Frank Torres

May your life be filled with wonderful memories of times with Julia. To know her was a blessing. She was such a special friend and we spent many hours of art together--even talking CSUB into giving us our own "Senior Show"! Her passing leaves such a great void in our lives.

In the loving memories of our dearest Julia,
No words can express how we appreciate your guidance, your precious support as a nursing professor and mentor throughout our academic journey at CSUB.
You were our Role Model and inspired us to become Family Nurse Practitioners and achieve our goal of Doctors in Nursing Practice.
We cherish all moments spending together with you over the past 30 years, and will never forget your beautiful smile, your gentle voice, and all your kind advice. We miss you so much. You will be always in our hearts. May your Soul Rest in Heavenly Peace, our dearest Julia.

Julia was and is my beloved aunt. She meant everything to me. Julia was my the person who encouraged me, comforted me. Julia was always there for me. She used to tell me I was her bestie, and I told her she was my bestie. I will miss her wisdom and insight, her friendship and love.

Julia was once my teacher and later on one of my favorite patients. She would always ask, "Are you staying out of trouble?" Her conversations and counsel always brought a smile to my face. I will miss my friend and mentor.

Julia welcomed me to St Philip the Apostle Catholic Church and became my godmother when I was confirmed in 2009. I loved hearing about her college days at Gonzaga and her contributions to the nursing program at CSUB. We would go to church and sit together most times, visit with each other, and share our lives. I had lost contact with her when I moved, but I thought of her often. She was a beautiful person.

I´m very sorry for your loss. Julia was my nursing instructor. I will never forget one of the most important things that she taught me, I should say that she taught all of us that were her students. She definitely had our attention as she imparted to us that we should treat every patient as if they were our own grandmother, grandfather, mother, father, son or daughter. Prayers for your family during this sad time.

Whenever I reflect on when I first met someone... The lyrics of the song so hauntingly and beautifully sung by Roberta Flack come to my mind: "the first time I ever saw your face...." this usually makes me feel very sentimental and....a degree of wonderment over how the relationship(s) eventually evolved. Little did I realize that "the first time I ever saw your face...." what big trouble lay ahead.
Lest you forget joys/trouble good times/less than good times, a little remembrance. Be of good spirit.
Jules Christmas 1983 Message to Dr. Jean Sullivan
My mother and Jules worked together, were neighbors each with custom built homes in Page, Arizona, and had many adventures in the Four Corners region during the decade they lived in Arizona. Jules and her cats were life long friends of our family from 1975 onwards. We loved her doodles.

It was always so much fun when the aunties would visit! Julia and Rosie would come, sometimes Ava. My grandmother Vivian always had us doing some kind of project, but it was special, we visited, had a great time with lots of laughter and love. Julia scolded me for not putting enough information in my Christmas cards, that was our primary mode of communication, sometimes email. It was alway so interesting to hear what she was up to, her being a life long learner. We shared a great affinity of cats too, so I looked for cards with kitties just for her. Julia was a fascinating and loving person and will be missed.
