Lance Skinner Obituary
January 5, 1951 May 29, 2023
Bakersfield Lance Steward Skinner passed away suddenly on May 29th, 2023. Born on January 5th, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Mary and William Skinner, Lance grew up in Bakersfield and graduated from South High School in 1969. He helped form and traveled with the show band Sundae Afternoon from 1970-1978. Lance was an entrepreneur, owning various businesses, the last of which was Certified Realty Services, retiring in 2021.
Lance was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and William Skinner. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jan Smith-Skinner, sister Elissa (Steve) Ladd, daughter Jacqulene Maegert, son Brett (Aimie) Skinner, and 5 grandchildren: Gabriel, Mia, Finnegan, Cillian and Graeson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 24th, 2023, at 11am at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary with a reception to follow.

O how I loved you Lance, my buddy who always made me smile. Always a great time with you at Bunco. You and I clicked right off as friends and I will always cherish the memories. Lance was such a genuine authentic guy! I can hear his laughter as I remember how much my husband Ralph and I enjoyed his and Jan´s company at our high school reunions! Always so pleasant and cheerful his face would light up when he greeted you! Truly one of a kind fabulous human being!! We are truly so very sorry for your tremendous loss and pray you will find some comfort knowing how much he loved all of you!

I am very sorry to hear of Lance´s passing. I remember him as a talented musician with a great sense of humor. I enjoyed many performances of Sundae Afternoon. He will be greatly missed. Much love to the family.
