Larry Davis Obituary

LARRY VERNON DAVIS

November 24, 1957 – June 9, 2025

Larry Vernon Davis, 67, of Tehachapi, California, passed away on June 9th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bakersfield, Larry was known for his unmatched work ethic, sharp wit, and big heart.

He was the proud owner of Larry's Truck Service, which he ran for over 32 years. He kept big rigs running with grease on his shirt and a smile- or sarcastic remark- on his face. His no-nonsense style and tough love earned respect from all who knew him.

Larry spent 40 summers at the family cabin on Bass Lake, a tradition he proudly shared with his children. He loved swimming, boating, skiing, fishing, and especially towing his daughters on a water tube trying to toss them off with a big grin.

Larry's creativity shone through his music, metal yard art, and especially his love for classic cars. Most notably his Ford Falcon and his cherished 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, which will one day roar to life in his honor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Pattie Davis; his mother, Marlene Huffman; his sister, Vickie Bishop, and her husband, Chuck. His children, who promise to keep his memory alive: Tarah Davis, Derek Davis, Michael Franks and wife Danielle, Jacklyn Willingham and husband Jared, Chris Franks and wife Olivia, Brandon Patten, and Tiffany Gafford and husband Trever.

Larry also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Rowan, Logan, Covey, Brock, Brett, Emma, Addison, William, Josh, and Hawk, who will grow up knowing their grandfather could fix or build anything.

A funeral service to honor Larry's life will be held Monday, June 23rd, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery Northeast, 3700 River Blvd, Bakersfield, CA 93305.

Followed by a reception at Valley Baptist Church (Olive Drive Campus) Building 1, 5500 Olive Dr Bakersfield, CA 93308 at 12:30 p.m.

I was a customer and friend of Larry´s. I did not see him much after he closed his business but he was excellent at his profession and I never went any place else to service my truck. Out side of work we talked cars and I bought a few Mustang parts from him. I also moved his little office a few times. Once we put it behind his house for his children to use. I remember getting stuck in a soft part of the back yard where the water had been running.. We somehow got unstuck with a lot of effort from both of us. Sorry to hear of his passing. Mike Tull
