A visitation will be held today, Tuesday, October 7, 4-8 p.m. at Truth Tabernacle with services being held at 6 p.m. this evening also at Truth Tabernacle, 214 Hosking Avenue, for Lonnie Francis Latham, 73, who departed for Heaven on Sunday, October 5, 2003, in Bakersfield, CA. Pastor Jonathan Mullings will officiate, along with Pastor Dearl Dawson of Calvary Tabernacle and Pastor Ruben Martinez of Tehachapi Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church.
Lonnie was born March 28, 1930, in Wickes, Arkansas, to Arthur and Fannie Latham. He married Trudie Elliott on October 31, 1949, and they spent 53 wonderful years together.
In 1963, Lonnie moved his family to California, where he lived for most of the remainder of his life. He worked in farming for many years, and was also a minister, affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church. He had resided in Tehachapi for the past 15 years, and attended the Tehachapi Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church. He had also served as pastor for churches in Arvin, California, Silver City, New Mexico and Grannis, Arkansas. His God was the most important thing in his life, followed by his beloved wife and family.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gene Latham; and a sister, Virginia Green. He is survived by his wife, Trudie of Tehachapi; five sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Rosemary Latham of Centennial, Colorado; Lonnie and Cindy Latham of Tehachapi; Johnny and Delia Latham of Bakersfield; Jerry and Tomasa Latham of Casa Grande, Arizona; and Denver and Becky Latham of Bakersfield; three brothers, Grady and Orval Latham both of Cisco, Texas and Louie Latham of Las Cruces, New Mexico; two sisters, Bonnie May of Gerty, Oklahoma and Lottie Stacy of Morris, Oklahoma; ten grandsons; three granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and his wonderful church family.
A graveside farewell will be held Wednesday, October 8, 10:00 a.m., at Arvin Cemetery.
