Loren Ybanez Obituary

Loren D. "Larry" Ybanez 11/25/31 - 4/25/13 Hero: One who, in the face of danger and adversity displays courage and the will for self sacrifice. Our Hero... Peacefully passed away at age 81 on the 25th of April, 2013 in Bakersfield, CA at home surrounded by his loved ones. He proudly served with the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger (Special Forces) with the 82nd Airborne Division & 101st "Screaming Eagles" conducting numerous combat jumps while spearheading assault operations in Korea. Larry achieved 2 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars of Valor & 1 Silver Star, yet he possessed a rare humility deeming none of his acts of Gallantry and Valor worthy of an audience. Graciously, he always insisted the honor truly belonged to his fallen brothers. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans with over 30 yrs of service, VFW Post 97, the National Order of Trench Rats, American Legion Post 682, Purple Heart Organization, Airborne Rangers & the Merchant Marines. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, best friend & true love Dolores along with his daughter Marilyn. He is survived by his children Mike, Lawrence, Craig, Cora "Cory" & Nicole "Bambi" along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren & great great grandchildren. Celebration of Life service will be on Thursday, May 2nd at 9 a.m., officiated by Pastor Nolberto Gomez at Victory Outreach Church 220 Eureka Ave. Bakersfield, CA with interment immediately following by Rev. Nick Cazares at Greenlawn Cemetery 3700 River Blvd. Bakersfield, CA. "Tata", as he was known by his family, always seized the opportunity to instruct & inspire all those lucky enough to spend time with the "Grouch". He was a leader in every aspect of the word and devoted himself to being the example that ultimately influenced the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. "Listen to this old man, I'm telling you the truth..." - One tough S.O.B. www.bakersfield.com/obits

Larry, You were an incredible person, and I find myself to be very fortunate to met and known you. When you came into our DEU offices, you brought light into our hearts. You always called us, "your girls" and coming from you, it was a great compliment to receive. I thank you for coming into my life, and I miss you. Love, Francesca

In our hearts

I will always keep you in my heart but that is nothing new. My thought about you have no word to explain, you are the kindness man I have ever met in my lifetime. The first day I saw you my heart melted with your charm. You kept on giving each day you walk in our office letting us know we were your beautiful heirloom. Now all I have of you are these beautiful memories remembering the words you will always say these are my beautiful lady my heirlooms" (his precious jewels, like his family) which always may be feel on top of the world each day you walk into our lives. You will never be forgotten we will love you forever. Rest in peace my wonderful friend.

I will always remember Larry bringing smiling faces when he entered our office and broken hearts when he left telling us how much he love his girls from the DEU office. Larry would visit the DEU office every Tuesday and always asking us if we needed anything. We would always tell him just seeing you give us the greatest joy. Larry you will be truly missed, my heart goes out to you and your family.

Larry known as TaTa to me.
What a life you had & the lives you touched... Nanna's, your children's, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Comrades-in-Arms, Veteran's (every week driving faithfully through the years to the VA hospital to make sure they could get the help they needed), friends & anyone else who met you.
TaTa, thank you for being there through the years for my daughter and grandaughter. You're my hero...

I have this feeling there's one more star up in the sky tonight. And even though it's far away, its brightness and warmth still reach us here to make the night a little less dark.
Life is so tender, so fragile, so very precious. God is our refuge and strength… Psalm 46:1 Thoughts of deep and sincere sympathy are with you at this time. "FROM THE WLA OFFICE DEU"
