Louis Yniguez Obituary

LOUIS JESSE YNIGUEZ

August 12, 1953 – August 19, 2024

Bakersfield – Louis Jesse Yniguez left this world on August 19, 2024 after losing his battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Bakersfield, California and attended local schools Our Lady of Guadalupe, South High and Bakersfield High. After graduating high school, he worked at several jobs before settling down at the California Correctional Institute in Tehachapi, where he worked for 30 years before retiring. During his time there, he worked as a Correctional Officer, a Supervisor in Industries and an Educator. After retiring from CCI he took two years off to care for his daughter after an injury and then worked for nine years as a Delivery Driver at North Chester Pharmacy before retiring for good to stay home with his dog children.

Louis was an avid and loyal sports fan, having been a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Lakers and New York Yankees since the '60s, a fact he took great pride in. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved to make people laugh, and was very good at it. He was one of the easiest people to talk to and never met a stranger. Though he tried hard to make people think he was tough, he was the kindest and most caring man anyone could know.

Louis was very involved in his son's activities when they were growing up. He coached AYSO after school sports at St. Francis Elementary, JBA and NOR. He was a Den and Pack Leader with the Cub Scouts and coached Cub Scout Baseball for seven years. He loved running into his former players as adults and reminiscing about all the games and championships they had won.

Louis is survived by his wife Michal (who taught him how to love and live again), his sons Anthony (Diana) and Raymond (Barbara), his daughter Kristina (Grady) and his granddaughter Maria (the special angel in his life). His sister Rosarie Karibian, his brother Anthony (Trina) and his sister Blasa Maria also survive him. His parents Raymond and Barbara, his brothers Raymond Jr. and Ralph, and his brother-in-law Vaughn Karibian, preceded him in death.

Louis will very much miss his wife Michal, as she had become his partner and best friend over the 24 years they had together. He will love her always. He loved being a dad and put his three children above all else throughout his life. The happiness and joy they brought to him over the years was his greatest pleasure.

Louis' favorite saying was "Remember me with smiles and laughter as that is how I will remember you. If you can only remember me with sadness and tears, then please do not remember me at all."

There will be no burial service per his wishes, as he wanted everyone to remember him as they last saw him.

In lieu of flowers, Louis asks that donations be made in his name to the animal shelter of your choice.

Louis made me laugh every day we were together. On our first date we went to see a movie neither of us really enjoyed, but we laughed the entire time (and it was not a comedy). It was then I knew I would love him forever.
