Marilyn was born and raised in Bakersfield. She graduated from NHS in 1966. Her first job was at the Unity Bookstore. She loved it there and became a lifetime member of the Unity Church. She married her husband, Terry in 1970, and was blessed with a beautiful son in 1992. She went to be with our Lord on June 23, 2002 after a brief battle with cancer.
Marilyn was a blessing to all who knew her. She was all about love and kindness. Her smile, laughter and gentle spirit will be greatly missed. But her memory will live on in all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Yeaman Blue Smith, mother, Elinor Smith, and brother, Erine Smith. She is survived by her devoted husband, Terry; loving son, TJ; sister, Winnie McAlister and husband, Ed; brother, David Smith and wife, Linda, all of Bakersfield. Brother, Gary Smith and wife, Connie of Wasilla, AK and brother, Kenny Smith and wife, Tana of NV; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
