Mary Maino Obituary

Mary Anne Maino January 16, 1941 - October 2, 2011 Our precious Mary Anne passed away with her beloved family at her bedside on Sunday evening in Santa Cruz, California. Born in Bakersfield, California on January 16, 1941, she is the daughter of Lillian and Donald Russell, long time ranchers in Pond, CA. Spending her childhood on the family ranch allowed her to be around the horses she loved and to become an accomplished rider. She earned her degree from San Jose State University. After school, she focused on raising her family. Once both boys were raised she became a real estate broker and passed the CPA exam. She enjoyed accounting and working with her husband to develop an almond orchard and a real estate portfolio. Her main hobby was sewing; she was a master quilter. Her love for her family and the many ways she dedicated herself to them will be forever cherished and deeply missed by her loving husband of 51 years, L. Tom Maino. Other survivors, her beloved sons and daughters in-law: Thomas Joseph and Kimberly Maino, and John Michael and Danielle Maino. She was also loved by her granddaughter Lilianne S. Maino and sister in-law, Susan A. Maino. A vigil service and recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday evening, October 6, 2011 at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, beginning at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday morning at Holy Cross Catholic Church (126 High St.) in Santa Cruz, beginning at 10.00a.m. The committal service will follow that day at 12:30 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, (22555 Cristo Rey Drive, Los Altos, CA. 94024) A reception will then follow the committal. Flowers are welcome and may be sent C/O Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel, Santa Cruz. Mary Anne was a true fighter and inspiration to any that battled long illness. In the years we knew her she never complained once and never let her struggle get her down. She is in our thoughts and prayers as is her family. She will be truly missed by all who were blessed enough to know her. Byron and Etsuko
