MARY REICHERT
1955 - 2018
CELEBRATION OF LIFE - OPEN HOUSE SEPTEMBER 15TH, 11 A.M. TO 4 P.M., 1816 BURTON WAY Mary was born on February 24, 1955, and passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2018, while driving herself to the hospital. Mary was "A ONE IN A MILLION." She had a very happy personality and a kind spirit. Mary was an awesome lady and a true friend to all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her mother, Ruth, who will be 100 in October; her brothers, Bill (Loke), John, Donny (Morghan); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary lived in La Puente and went to Cal Poly Pomona, until 1976. She moved to Bakersfield to play professional softball for the BAKERSFIELD AGGIES, as their TALL catcher. She hit the MOST LEAGUE HOME RUNS that year. Two years later, she traveled to BELGIUM to play professional basketball for 9 months.
She loved Bakersfield so much, she came back here to start her professional School Bus Driving career. Mary drove for KHSD for two years, HOPPER STEEL for 6 years, then retired from BCSD, after 29 years of devoting her life to safely driving SPECIAL NEEDS kids. Mary retired at 60 ... so she and her PARTNER IN CRIME, Sharon Kruse, could start traveling. They had so many memorable trips together.
Mary has left us all with sad hearts. She will be missed by all the many friends and family who loved her. She will be especially missed by her card-playing buddy, Jeannie Christian, Sandi, and her rescue dog, Tippy.

I am truly sorry for your loss. May God bless your friends and family with peace and comfort during this difficult time. Mary was a bus driver for my daughter one year and it takes such a special person to do that job, and she truly was!
