It was in the maternity ward is when I met Max...let me explain...I have given birth to my 3rd son. I was sitting there with my newborn late at night watching tv, visiting hours were over so I have no idea how they got in! :), I heard fast footsteps and the curtain slighty move when my second mom, Nattie, and Max peeked in.."there you are"..she said while Max glanced over her shoulder with a huge smile from ear to ear looking over his glasses. We sat there and talked and of course he threw in some jokes here and there...They were my company that night, unforgettable company.
Months later again my first company at my new apartment, just a few streets away from them...it was raining that day I recall...I had made posole that day and was very nervous about what they thought it was going to taste like...Max ate it all! He said it was good and re-assured me he wasn't kidding :) My boys and Max were talking away as he told them to show their muscles to see how big they are because they needed to protect me, their mother. My boys had a blast with him...
Nattie remember how you used to talk about how mad Max made you by doing silly things? Well as you started out with a red face while telling me what he did or didn't do you ended up smiling at what he said to you...and eventually turn around in your desk and I would see the way you looked at his picture from the corner of your eye and smiled even more... I miss you Nattie and Max..You will forever be my heart/family...

love you guys so much,
Maggie Alvarez

I had the pleasure of meeting and working for Max in 1979. I worked in the Display Department at Sears for 6 years. Max was not just a boss, he was a dear friend. He treated us as family, not employees. It was a joy going to work because he created a fun atmosphere. He loved to tell jokes and I loved to play jokes on him. He always threatened to throw me in the trash dumpster. Well he finally did. We continued to laugh about it. I had not seen Max in a few years, just kept informed through Judy our co-worker. I ran into him at the Relay for Life in May. We reminisced and yes, he reminded me of throwing me in the trash dumpster. He up dated me on his family, that he was always proud off. I knew that Max liked to dance. A band started playing so we danced. He looked so good, I had know idea that he would be gone 3 months later. I think it was meant to be that I run into him. I'm glad God's plan gave me the opportunity to see him one last time. Working at Sears was the best job I ever had and it was because of Max. Maxie and Nick take care of your Mom. He will be dearly missed.

To Nattie, Maxxie, and Nick,
Many, many, many long years ago (24 to be exact) I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Nattie and in turn, met her husband, kids, other family members and friends. Oh what fun we had. Max always was there, the stories Nattie would tell, then Max would tell, always were so funny. Max always had a smile, and a joke to tell. And what a dancer! We had so much fun together when we were at a gathering. I have truly been blessed to have met this family, I feel as if they are extensions of my own family. Here's to Max - I salute you, for your everlasting humor, generosity, quick wit, and smiles. Love ya all,
Geni
