Megan Wiese Obituary

MEGAN VIRGINIA (COLE) WIESE

December 26, 1980 - August 29, 2021

Megan passed away August 29, 2021 at her home in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 40. She was born December 26, 1980 in Bakersfield, California to Nathan and Sharon Cole. She was a beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend and mother of two precious daughters.

She graduated from Stockdale High in 1999. Megan attended Bakersfield College for a time and then ventured out on her own to Durango, Colorado. She worked as a chef, baker, cake decorator and faux painter. She obtained her EMT certificate and attended Fort Lewis College part time. Megan developed her own line of hot sauces that are legendary amongst her family and friends to this day. She eventually began a career in real estate with Coldwell Banker in Grand Junction and was named Rookie Realtor of the Year in 2017.

Megan was a beautiful, talented and tenacious individual. She was also a very private person, but under her armored exterior was a kind and giving spirit. We will always remember her beautiful smile and funny little giggle. Megan enjoyed being a housewife and mother most of all. Her artistic talents were on display when she planned epic birthday parties for her girls. She adored animals, especially her pets Cocoa, Willow, Tom Tom, Matilda and Luna. Megan loved the outdoors. She backpacked every summer in the Sierras with her family when she was young. She loved snow and enjoyed snow boarding. She was into bouldering, bicycling, kayaking, fly fishing and white water rafting in Colorado.

Megan struggled with depression and alcohol use disorder. Eventually we lost her to this terrible disease. She would not, however, want her life defined by these struggles. Beneath the chains of depression and addiction was a wonderful person. Megan loved her daughters with all her heart. She will always be with them in spirit.

Megan will be missed and remembered forever by those who loved her. She is survived by her two daughters, Bailey and Madison; her parents Nathan and Sharon Cole; her brother Ben and his wife Kaci; her nephew Riley and nieces Kamryn and Charlotte. She also has numerous uncles, aunts and cousins who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Clare and Velma Rexroth and John and Virginia Cole.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Megan at 10:30 am, Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Millcreek Christian Church, 1660 S Street, Bakersfield, California.

I was Bailey and Madison“s teacher for 3 years at Fruita Montessori. I grew close to the family and care very much for them. I knew Megan as a sweet, attentive mom. I send my condolences to your family. I am so very sorry, Love to you all.
