Merle Harthorn

Services: Thurs., June 13, 10 a.m.

Services will be held at Westside Church of Christ, 7300 Stockdale Hwy., Thursday, June 13, at 10:00 a.m. for Merle Harthorn, 80, who passed away June 8, 2002. Thomas Edmiaston will officiate and interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Lane.

Merle was born September 25, 1921 in Santa Paula and resided in Bakersfield for 52 years. He retired from Tosco Refinery after 36 years of employment. Merle was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran serving from 1943 to 1945. He was a member and founding member of the Westside Church of Christ. His church, family, friends and country were his life, and a fish or two.

Husband to Tommie for 57 years; father to Dean, Keith, Merrily Edmiaston and Chris; grandfather to Denise Lee, Brian, Dwayne and Justin Edmiaston, Wendy Nelson and Paul Nicole; and great grandfather to Krea Lee, Kory Lee, Kaytie Lee, Alexandra Nelson, and Samuel.

Pallbearers will be Denise Lee, Brian Harthorn, Dwayne Harthorn, Justin Edmiaston, Wendy Nelson, Paul Harthorn and Nicole Harthorn.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Church of Christ Youth Activities. No visitation is scheduled.
