Michael Yurosek Obituary

Michael Anthony Yurosek Sept. 28, 1922 June 12, 2005 Michael Mike Yurosek passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005, amongst generations of his family who adored him. He was a patriarch to his family in the truest sense of the word, and he will be deeply missed and remembered, as he had such a lasting effect on those who knew him. Mike was born on September 28, 1922, in San Fernando Valley, California, and lived a full and rich life. Born of immigrant parents from Javoshinka, Poland, Mike and his twin brother began school not speaking a word of English. Mike overcame this temporary roadblock, like many others in his life, and went on to fill his life with love and family. Mike was an outstanding athlete at Van Nuys High School in the San Fernando Valley and excelled in basketball. He was the first boy to make All-City Los Angeles from the San Fernando Valley. After high school, he went on to the business world with his older brother John Yurosek and formed Yurosek Brothers Farms in Newhall, California. In 1969, he and his son David, formed Mike Yurosek and Son, Inc., better know as "Bunny Luv". Mike is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Madeline Sue; three children, Johnsie Manlowe, Lynn Grayson, and David Yurosek; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Mike was a loving and compassionate husband, father, grand and great-grandfather and especially as a person. He always thought of how he could help others, and loved to make people laugh. He was humble, yet also proud of his many achievements in life, family and business. He will be remembered by his grandchildren and great- grandchildren for the magical opening of their presents on Christmas Day, while both Mike and Sue looked on with enormous smiles. Mike Yurosek and Son, Inc., moved to Lamont, California in 1974 and became one of the largest carrot operations in the nation. The company discovered the Baby Whole Carrots and in 1995 sold to Grimmway Farms of Arvin. Mike was very active and an avid golfer. He also enjoyed going to horse races, especially when his horses went to the winner's circle, as they did many times. He had a passion for traveling, and visited approximately 100 countries, including his ancestors' country of Poland numerous times. He was a person that was very comfortable being himself, no matter where he was in the world. Mike will be not only missed by his family, but all those who came to know him and love him. Known for his extroverted personality, he was as comfortable talking with the President of the United States as he was dancing with an employee at a company function, and they all enjoyed him. He always had his huge smile, and his booming voice filling up the room. Words fail to adequately express how compassionate and giving he was. He leaves a legacy of pride, strength, and faith in each of his remaining family members. He truly evoked in all the ways what Tom Brokaw classified as the Greatest Generation. Legacy.com
