Myrna Melling-Forrest Obituary

Myrna Dell Melling-Forrest (Fast), 82, passed away peacefully August 18th, 2015 at her home in Bakersfield, CA. She was born to Denzil and Eldo Melling in Upland, CA.
She enjoyed a varied career as a secretary, bookkeeper, office manager and event coordinator for a medical research project. She raised her children in Oregon and lived for almost 20 years in the Bay area. After her retirement she traveled with her husband and they settled in Bakersfield where Myrna volunteered at the Guild House, the American Cancer Society Discovery Store, and was a member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). She completed her bachelors degree after her children were raised and actively pursued community and online education opportunities. She enjoyed attending local arts performances, and sang in Sweet Adelines, The Goldenaires and an a cappella group that performed locally. Her other interests included gardening, cooking, reading and knitting.
She is survived by her brothers Duane Melling, Post Falls, ID; Dean Melling, Rhonert Park, CA.; a daughter and son-in-law Larry and Laura Tomanka, Scappoose, OR; sons and daughters-in-law Pastor Greg and Shirley Middlestetter, Springfield, OR; Doug and Pam Middlestetter, Silverton, OR; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, William (Bill) Forrest and her brother Kermit Melling.
She will be interned with Bill at the National Military Cemetery in Bakersfield. In lieu of a service, relatives and friends may join in a celebration of Myrna's life at
