Paul Riley Obituary

Paul B. Riley 1927 - 2009 Paul B. Riley was born in Salisbury, Maryland, on July 25, 1927. He died on November 30, 2009, due to post- surgical pneumonia following the removal of a cancerous kidney. A Seventh-Day Adventist who worked for over 40 years at Adventist schools and hospitals, he inspired many students and colleagues to live a Christ-centered life of service to God. He will be missed by all who benefitted from his guidance and genuine acts of kindness. Paul was an exceptional father, grandfather, athlete, gardener, artist and photographer. He was a very loving "Poppy" to his five grandchildren and great grandson -- and others who treated him as their grandfather, too. Paul married his high school sweetheart, Doris Blaser, in 1948, and they had 56 wonderful years together before she passed away in 2006. His oldest son, Paul R. Riley, daughter-in-law Edna, granddaughters Stephanie and Sydney, and great grandson Emmett will forever cherish the memorable times they spent with Paul and Doris during their many years together in Florida. After moving to Bakersfield in 2003, Paul and Doris enjoyed quality family time with their youngest son Rick Riley, daughter- in-law Dianne, and grandchildren Victoria, Griffin and Sterling. Paul appreciated the friendship, support and prayers of local SDA Church members, and the love he felt as an adopted in-law of the Papasergia family in Bakersfield. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, December 4, at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park.
