Peggy Christine Bounville, a longtime Fairfield resident, was peacefully ushered into the glorious presence of God on May 30. 2006, as all of her loving family was gathered around her bedside at her home in Bakersfield, CA. She peacefully succumbed to complications after bravely struggling to overcome fher illness. Peggy is survived by her husband, seven children, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Peggy was born November 29. 1934, in Oxford, England, and was the eighth child born to Thomas and Bertha Parsonson, all of whom have preceded her in death. WWll made life in
England difficult for her widowed mother and who had eight young children to raise. It was decided that Peggy and two siblings were to be sent ahead to America to live with relatives until her family could be reunited. In 1942, an 8 year old Peggy embarked upon a Transatlantic Ocean liner voyage which led to a new life in Detroit, Michigan. She attended local schools and graduated from E. Commerce Vocational High School, Detroit, Michigan, and worked as a stenographer upon graduation.
In 1954, Peggy met the man who would become her husband of 51 years, Rick Bounville, while he was a young airman stationed at Selfridge AFB, Mt. Clemens, Michigan. After a whirlwind courtship, he married his "beautiful redhead," and they traveled westward, with George AFB, Victorville, CA, being their destination. By 1960, they were reassigned to Travis AFB, Fairfield, CA, and remained there until their recent move to Stallion Springs of Tehachapi, CA, in 2002. Her years in Fairfield were where Peggy settled in and made
a full life out of being a devoted homemaker and in raising her children, Peggy always had boundless energy for the demands of a busy household and readily showed her support for her children whether it was by attending countless Little League games and band performances, or even helping with newspaper delivery routes.
Peggy held various jobs over the years including being employed by Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, CA, and worked as a civil service personnel clerk. She retired in 1977 after 10 years of employment,
For all who knew Peggy, it was her love and devotion for God and her servant's heart that will forever be remembered. She had a passion for the furthering of God's work in Foreign Missions and had often stated that a childhood dream had been to travel to Africa to be a Missionary. Peggy instilled the same virtues and knowledge into all of her children and her never-ending prayers truly impacted all or their lives. During her time in Solano County, Peggy attended various local churches and last attended Westwind Christian Center, Suisun, CA. Peggy served as the church secretary and was involved with their Foreign Missions program.
Peggy's Christian faith was unshakeable and even through the darkest hours of her illness, she continued to set the example for others as she renewed her strength from our Heavenly Father daily. There was never a moment of questioning God or complaining about her plight. She had a heart full of love and thanksgiving for her husband and his ceaseless devotion as he cared for her in her illness. Peggy's family was blessed beyond measure for all that she so sacrificially gave to them. While she may be missed immeasurably, her love and her spirit will be ever present in the hearts of all of those who were blessed to have known her.
In addition to her husband, Rick Bouflville of Bakersfield, CA, she is
also survived by her children,
Rochelle Bounville, Berkeley, CA, Renee and Tom Beckner, Santa Cruz, CA; Robin Bounville, Fairfield, CA, Roxanne and Greg Thompson, Napa, CA, Richard and Kathy Bounville, TehaChapi, CA, Tony Bounville and David Bounville, both of Bakersfield, CA; eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
At her request, a celebration of Peggy's life was held in private with her family.
