Peggy Ruth James was born August 25, 1937 in Anton, Texas to Joe and Hazel Barton.
She passed away October 7, 2025 in Shafter, California. She moved to McFarland, CA as a child where she grew up and graduated from McFarland High School in 1955. She married her husband Zane James in1962 and moved to Delano, CA where she started her career in banking. She moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1977 with her husband and two daughters. She continued her banking career with Bank of America for 21 years before going to GMAC Financing then later retiring from San Joaquin Bank.
Peggy is survived by her daughters Cindy Williams and Teri Branch and husband Joel, Granddaughter Laurel Pettibone and husband Dusten, great-grandson Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband Zane, parents Joe and Hazel Barton, Sister Betty Hammons.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00AM at Westside Church of Christ 7300 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93309. A reception will follow.
