Phyllis B. Burgemaster, age 85, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2003, at Memorial Hospital. Visitation was held at Greenlawn Memroial Chapel, Monday, April 14, 2003, from 3-9 p.m. Graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at 11:00 a.m.

She was born February 21, 1918, in Los Angeles, California. Phyllis was the daughter of the late Jefferson Maxwell and Violet Barnes (Davy). Her loving husband, George H. Burgemaster, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia L. Clark and son-in-law, James F. Clark, Jr. of Fairfield, California; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a half-brother; and a sister-in-law. Phyllis also has numerous cousins, nieces and nephews living in this area of California.

Her zest for life is remembered by her family and friends. Phyllis loved to travel and enjoyed painting. She retired from work in the medical profession. Among her varied interests, she was a member of the Bakersfield Chapter #125 of Eastern Star and a member of Sierra Club.

Phyllis fought a brave battle against cancer. Our family wants to thank the doctors and staff of the Comprehensive Blood & Cancer Center, as well as the staff at Memorial Hospital for their caring assistance.
