Rama Arvind Shah passed away on August 22, 2025. She was born in Baroda, Gujarat, India, on February 26, 1943. She attended Pratap High School and MS University in Baroda, India. She married Dr. Arvind Shah in 1967 and immigrated to the US several months later, acquiring her citizenship in 1974.
Rama is survived by her husband Dr. Arvind Shah; daughters Seema Shah, Mona Yen, and Hansa Kaipa; sons-in-law Morris Yen and Sami Kaipa; and eight grandchildren: Akash, Mia, Nina, Arjun, Sydney, Kashi, Ishan, and Omi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mohanlal and Girja Gandhi, and brothers Dr. Madhusudan Gandhi and Dr. Sharad Gandhi.
Rama lived a full and loving life as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend known for her generosity and warm spirit. She will be most remembered for her kindness, grace, and quiet strength. She was an active member of the Hindu Temple of Kern County.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 2 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home on Panama Lane. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hindu Temple of Kern County or the Chinmaya Mission of Bakersfield in her memory.
We are deeply grateful to the physicians who provided exceptional care throughout her long-term illness. The family also extends heartfelt thanks to her devoted caregivers–Karen, Emily, Ivy, Karina, and Dolores–as well as the hospice staff for their compassion and support.
