Services: Friday, March 7, 9 a.m.
A Rosary and Mass of the Christian Burial for Raymond Yniguez, Jr. will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Friday morning March 7, 2003, at 9:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Union Cemetery.
Raymond Yniguez, Jr. was born on January 23, 1925, in Oakland, California, to Raymond Yniguez, Sr. and Luisa Yniguez. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Tony, as well as his two sons, Raymond and Ralph.
Raymond was very proud to have served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the Eleventh Armored Division and often shared his experiences with his children and grandchildren. In addition to serving his country, Raymond worked for the city of Bakersfield, first as a custodian for the Bakersfield Police Department, then as a tradesman. After his retirement at age 62, Raymond worked for Hertz as a driver until he was 75 years old. Not only did he work his regular jobs, but Raymond also worked with his father and performed odd jobs to supplement his familys income.
Raymond was a man who was ahead of his time in that he not only worked 12-15 hour days, but he also was available to transport all six members of our family to our many school activities. He was also involved in Cub Scouts (The Pinewood Derby was his favorite), JBA, and all of the activities associated with his childrens attendance at Our Lady of Guadalupe School such as altar boys, dance groups, school plays, etc.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Angelina, as well as his four children, Rosarie and husband, Vaughn Karibian, Louis Jess Yniguez, Blasa Maria Yniguez, Tony and wife, Trina Yniguez. He also has two surviving brothers, Henry Yniguez and Charlie Contreras. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Anthony and wife, Diana Yniguez, Raymond Yniguez, Joseph Karibian, Holly Yniguez, Melissa Gonzales, Matthew Gonzales, Michael Yniguez and great-granddaughter, Maria Amber Yniguez.
Raymonds family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Raju Patel and his staff, as well as the Optimal Hospice staff, especially Karen and Melissa. Without your support and the extra efforts from Tony and Trina, our Dad would not have had such quality time with his family.
We are very proud of all that our Dad was. He was strong, smart, a good provider, and most of all, he was very brave. We will miss him every day of our lives. For additional service information or floral delivery information, please contact Basham Funeral Care 873-8200.
