Richard James Ursin
December 3, 1937 - September 5, 2017

Richard James Ursin was born December 3, 1937 in Freeport Long Island, New York to Sverre and Eva Ursin.

He lived in Queens, NY moved to Bakersfield, Ca in 1957 when he was 19. He lived in Bakersfield for the rest of his life. He was married twice and had four children Cynthia, Richard, Mark and Diane. Three grandsons David, Devin and Jackson.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sister Yvonne.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, Brother Roy Ursin and ex-wife Margaret.

Richard worked for 40 years as a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service. Richard loved to go Deep Sea Fishing and also liked to cook for many family gatherings where he was known for his BBQ skills. He also enjoyed Country music and was involved in his children's sports activities along with family trips to Morro Bay and Ventura where he loved to swim in the ocean. Richard was a true Norwegian in every sense of the word and displayed a Viking Spirit throughout his life.

The family would like to thank San Joaquin Hospital for the loving care and support during his last days.

A small celebration was held pool side at his residence where family and friends reminisced about his life.

Richard requested no services and donations be made to a charity of your choice.
