Robert Blackburn Obituary

Robert "Glen" Blackburn passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 1st at his home. He was 90. Glen was born to Alexander and Olive Blackburn on November 23th, 1924 in Pittsburg, Oklahoma. He served two years in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving two tours in Europe and North Africa. He married his beloved wife, Lorece Henderson, on May 24th, 1946 and together they started a family, moving to California in 1947. He worked for Chevron Oil Company for 34 years and retired in 1981. Glen was baptized in August 1960 in the Kern River and lived his life for his Lord and Savior. He was an active member of First Assembly of God Church for many years. Glen enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, working in his shop and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Olive Blackburn, Brother Buck Blackburn and Sisters Katie Blackburn, Thelma Richardson and Iris Erwin.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorece Blackburn, son, Bob Blackburn (Kathie), daughter Mary Rutherford (Ed), Granddaughters Kristen Kaufman (Jordan), Roben Alarcon (Michael), Karie Hacker (Adam) and Michele Matthews (Edward), thirteen great-grandchildren, sisters Joanna Smith and Louise Cowell and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing is open to the public on Sunday, February 8th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 9th, at 1:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., Bakersfield, CA 93305.
His Lord said unto him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Mathew 25:23
