A Memorial Service for Robert Henry Elliott will be held Monday, April 21, at 1:00 p.m., at Olive Drive Church, 5500 Olive Drive.
Robert Henry Elliott was born March 22, 1917, in Riverside, California, the son of Bower McKee and Mary Jane Elliott. While attending Corcoran schools and Hanford High School, Robert was active in Boy Scouts becoming an Eagle Scout in 1932. He graduated from Pomona High School in 1935. He continued his education at Pomona Junior College and LaVerne College where he received his AB in 1939. In 1961, he was awarded a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Southern California.
Robert began his teaching career in Tulare County before becoming Teacher and Vice Principal, then Superintendent of Lakeside Elementary School until retiring in 1976. Roberts professional affiliations included Past President Phi Delta Kappa; Past President Kern Reading Association; Past President Kern and Central Section and State Director of California Elementary School Administrators Association; and Past President, Regional Director, and Treasurer of Association of California School Administrators. After retiring he worked for ACSA as Regional Consultant until 1988. Robert gave time and energy to the Kern Schools Federal Credit Union Board of Directors from 1967-2002 and was rewarded with many wonderful friendships.
Especially dear to Roberts heart were the message and the people of First Baptist Church, now known as Olive Drive Church. Robert served on the Board of Deacons, acted as Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent, and served as a Financial Officer.
He enjoyed the game of golf and the company of his many golfing friends over the years.
Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret; and their five children and spouses, Anne Bosse of Dunnigan, Bill and Nancy Elliott of Oakland, Philip and Nancy Elliott, Bruce and Paulette Elliott, and Richard Elliott of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Bryan Bosse, Debbie Bosse, Matt and Kristin Elliott Arrandale, Tim and Marissa Elliott, Scott and Tracey Elliott Lee, Troy and Ellen Elliott, Evangelos and Kelly Elliott Demestihas, and Ian Elliott; great-grandchildren, Kurt Bosse, Trevor Bosse, Jack and Timothy Arrandale, George and Jimmy Demestihas; sisters, Beth Hildebrand and Esther Wright; and many nieces and nephews. His family was his greatest treasure.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Olive Drive Church, 5500 Olive Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93308.
