"Dearest Bashie, Ruben and Lisa...I was shocked to learn that "little Ruben" had passed on. I clearly remember him as a iittle boy coming to the restaurant and then as a young man who seved as a DJ at my wedding. He did such a great job! I met Ruben in Palm Springs in 1986 cruising the strip. He was an incredible guy and I looked forward to holidays because I knew he would be visiting Palm Springs with his family and friends and I would get to see him. I am heartbroken to learn of his passing. I will treasure all the great times we had together.

Dearest Pulido's,
My life and God have brought many challenges and many angels to help overcome those obstacles. Ruben was one of those angels. I was a scared teenager, who had just moved from Florida to CA with his mother and soon to be stepfather. Ruben took me in as a friend and a brother playing football, baseball, wrestling at MHS and surfing/skating in our spare time. It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt sadness that I receive this news, my sincere condolences to your family and to the world for this tragic loss. God Bless.

Ruben has always been a true friend to me and my family. My sister has some great stories that are 100% because of Ruben. I have many fond memories of vacations, football games, and the non-stop laughter. I learned alot from Ruben and enjoyed all my adventures with him. Ruben had so many classic expressions. I still hear his laugh. I miss him.

For 20 years you have been like a family to me, and Ruben was like a brother. He protected me and cared for me, in ways I will never forget. He brightened my day whenever he was around, with that incredible, warm smile, genuine character and loving, free spirit. I feel fortunate and blessed to have known him, he was such an incredible guy.
I am shattered and so saddened by his passing, yet so so so thankful that I have such wonderful memories with him. Please know that your precious son/brother will always be in my heart, and he will NEVER be forgotten.

Be very proud that in his far too short years with us, he has been able to touch, and be a part of so many. As my experiences with Ruben go back to his high school years, I have very fond memories of Ruben's talent on the football field, and his people skills talent off the football field. I saw a young kid come to Miraleste maybe a little bit confused, and two short years later I saw a young man graduate from Miraleste with the respect of all. As I have lost touch with Ruben over the years, I have not lost touch with some of the kids I coached, and enivatbly Ruben's name will come up in conversation. We are so terribly sad by the loss of Ruben John. Sammy did not get the chance to know him very well, but I loved him more than words can express....So many of my happiest childhood memories have him in them. And even some of the not so happy ones....man, did he LOVE to pick on me! When I met Riley the other day (for the first time), he made me so happy! Growing up, Ruben was always around. He was like the second brother I never wanted, but loved nonetheless. He and Brett were two peas in a pod, always up to something and always available for commentary on my boyfriends, friends and my clothing. It was hard to get away with anything with those two around. Though we went our seperate paths over the past several the incredibly loyal friendship that Ruben provided me has never been forgotten. A friendship that began in fourth grade in the back of Ruben Sr's El Camino on the way to our Pop Warner football games became an unbreakable bond upon our reunification as Jr's at MHS. A bond and friendship that created incredible memories and experiences, whether it was battling on the Gridiron, cleaning roach coaches, chasing our favorite mice or going on one of our wild road trips / vacations to Mammoth, Tahoe, TJ or Palm Springs Ruben always had my back. His infectious smile, laugh and personality will live on foerever in all of those who knew him. I for one, every time I step on a football field to coach or watch my sons play I will pray for Ruben and the treasure the glowing memories that accompanied our endeavors for it is these experiences that have helped drive me, better me and inspire me. God bless you Ruben Pulido, I hope you are in Peace and can feel and appreciate the love coming from sooo many people who you truly have touched and who love you.

Mr. & Mrs. Pulido and Lisa, I am shocked and sadded to hear that we will not have the blessing of being in the presence of Ruben's bright smile, energetic curiousity, genuine humility and care for his friends and family he loved so much. Ruben touched so many of us with his positive vibrations and energy--I only wish we could have done more to quell his suffering and been with him to comfort him in his last moments here on earth. We had so many good times, surfing together down in mexico and partying (responsibly) after collecting up as a sober surf club.
You are good parents who did everything for your son. And Lisa, I know you and Ruben were very, very close--he loved you so. We can take comfort in that Ruben is at last at peace. May he live within us all forever...

Words cannot describe the sorrow I feel for Rubin, and the amazing family he left behind. The first time I met Rubin he ran full speed into me carrying the football at MHS. Instantly, I gave him respect and started a great friendship. I could always count on Rubin for anything. He had solid character, sincere heart, and a memorable sense of humor. One thing I’ll always remember is seeing the overwhelming family support from Lisa, Mr. and Mrs. Pulido at every football game. Losing Rubin is like missing a family member.
