Ruby Sanchez

On the evening of December 7, 2015 Ruby passed away of natural causes, while visited and comforted by family members, at the Golden Living Center in Bakersfield, California. She was 93 years old. Born March 14, 1922 and raised in Bakersfield, Ruby attended Kern County Union High School and married Mateo Sanchez in 1940. They enjoyed a 54-year marriage before he passed away in February of 1994. They were active with the Disabled American Veterans Post 26 and the Sociedad Juarez and later she was also active with the Richard Prado Center. She spent countless hours tending her roses, traveling, and preparing too many wonderful meals to remember. She is already truly missed. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Apolonio and Eulalia Moreno, husband Mateo, 13 brothers and sisters, and three children. She is survived by children Joe Sanchez, Ann Santa Cruz, Jane Frando, Susan Padilla, Greg (Valery) Sanchez, and David (Lupe) Sanchez, as well as 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. Viewing will be at Basham Funeral Care, 620 Oregon Street, Bakersfield, on Monday, December 14 from 4 to 7pm with Rosary at 6pm. Mass will be held at St. Francis Church, 900 'H' Street, Bakersfield, on Tuesday, December 15, at 9am with internment to follow at Union Cemetary, 730 East Potomac Avenue.
